80's Hair Bands!!!!!

AN EVENT TO REMEMBER

NOTE:  SOME LANGUAGE ON THIS PAGE MAY NOT BE APPROPRIATE FOR GRANDPARENTS!!!

My Bro', Scott, is coming down for these 4 days to party and rock and roll.

It will be really cool, since we haven't really hung out together where there aren't obligations and activities planned, in many years

I will update this site regularly throughout the 4 days so that you can see what we have been up to.  Plenty of stories and plenty of pictures!

Only warning!!!!!  click on the image to see the larger image!!!!

TUESDAY 9-2-08

Had to get up early and take Scott to the airport.  No problems getting him there on time.  I just heard from him a little bit ago, and he landed in Cedar Rapids and is on his way home.  He said he met and visited with Jackyl while at the airport.  How cool is that???  All is well.....and we're looking forward to next year.....but hoping there isn't a Day 5!

MONDAY 9-1-08 (written Tuesday afternoon)

Everyone was dragging on Monday.  No drinking because we knew we would have to be on the road and it was still to be a very long day.  It was very windy, and there were guys walking around with those wind meters.  Rigging for the lights and stuff were swaying and moving around more than they probably should have been.

First of all....this must have been a sign.  "X marks the spot where everyone should have been".  This was taken almost straight up from our seats.

Siberian Satin Pants or something like that.  They were OK, but there was a reason they were playing a side stage early in the day

Don't know their name...but they rocked.  I needed a little modern metal after all the "old school" metal.

Remember this name,......COCKPIT.  With a couple of breaks, they will be big someday.

Lunch   aka  Heart Attack Waiting to Happen

Pretty boy Floyd.  I don't know which one is Floyd.....but he ain't pretty.

   KIX....good show....rotten music.

  Jackyl!!!!  Enough said.

Only band to incorporate a chain saw into the music...and make it sound good!

Twisted Sister!  Whaddya Wanna Do With Yer Life??!?!?!?!?!?

Bret Michaels (from Poison) closed out the festival in fashion.

They were also filming the initial shows to Rock of Love 3 (barf).

SUNDAY 8-31-08 (written Monday morning)

It was another awesome day!  Didn't show up at the park until around 3.  Took it easy at first, but then a little rain showed up, some clouds and light wind and it was so comfortable it was now ON!  We're really looking forward to Jackyl tomorrow....more than any of the other bands.  Will try to see Cockpit...but we are moving a little slow so far today.  I will be the DD today, since we have to check out of the hotel and park over at the grounds.  We'll be leaving tonight and heading to the house, and Scott leaves early in the morning.  Tomorrow will be the hardest day to get through!!!

We had to do some 'laundry' to get the ass smell out of our clothes.

Some misc pictures of the grounds.

Sorry I didn't get them on Day 1

Attempt at panorama

Slaughter was good.  They played 2 of their big hits at the end of the set.  Scott didn't get to see them (ha ha ha)!

There's nothing more to say than 'Yngwie Fuckin' Malmsteen'

His set was the way to put on a show when you don't know the songs.  Amazing.

Awesome.  Original members.  Played like they've been together all along!

Free beer and those damn frozen margarita packets!!!

Scott finds the ruts in the grounds

  Poor baby     Tattoo Man

7 Story Drop - one of the side stage bands that rocked loud!!!

We went to see Beautiful Creatures on a side stage before Alice.  They rocked

Alice Cooper.  Never seen him before.  OK for awhile.  Got bored.  Had to leave

While leaving Scott found another rut

We had to jump a fence to get out because we were too lazy to go all the way back to the entrance to get out.  For the record, I (Todd) had no problem with the fence.  Scott just can't handle his beer like he did in his younger days.

But it's all in the name of Metal!!!!!!

Scott also thought he would get some balloons to bring back to his wife, but they were a permanent fixture.  He did take her home a rope burn/rope cut from the string that they were attached to!!!

    Thank goodness for compressions socks.

SATURDAY 8-30-08 (written Sunday morning)

Had a great day.  We didn't come out of the gates as fast as yesterday, but still had a blast.  We were worn out at the end of the day.  One of the biggest complaints is all the ruts and uneven ground that you have to walk over to get anywhere.  (pics of the grounds will be taken today).  We took the light rail to the event, which took off about 15 minutes walk...and saved our legs a little bit.

There is some concern about the weather tomorrow with Gustov approaching.  It will probably be OK until/if winds develop.  We'll play it by ear.

A little rough this morning, but we're having chips, eggs, bacon and bloody beer.  Today will be a full day cumulating with Sammy Hagar tonight!!!!!!

  mmmmmm...breakfast

Started the day with BulletBoys.  They were OK, but we only knew a couple of their songs.

Ventured out to the other stages and say a "semi-thrash" band called StaggerCrawl

Great White was great.  Lots of energy and we knew a lot of their songs.  The evening was just getting started.

What a dick!   Bad Wig! Complained the whole time!   The guitarist kicked ass and was fun to watch.  We were hoping George Lynch would come out....but no such thing.

No - not a pediphile thing....but a rocking girl band!  They play again Monday.  Might have been more people there than at BulletBoys.  They were really pretty good.

Lita Ford is still HOT.....from a distance.  We only knew 2 of her songs, but still fun to watch.

Sammy rocked, kick assed, wore us out....whatever you want to call it.

One big party with lots of energy!  Bar on the stage.  People on stage behind him.  Drinks being served by girls in bikinis.  Boobies being shown everywhere (sorry, Mom, you can't see them)          (pssst.........Dad...those pictures will be sent to you later!!!!).

Confetti cannons shot these off at the end of the night.  People were going nuts trying to get all of it and wrap it up and such!

FRIDAY 8-29-08  1200  (written Saturday morning)

We're checking in and ready to to PARTY!  Budlight/Clamato or Corona/Blood Mary Mix and all the wonder farts that go with it.  No women around......so GUYS ROCK!

Pictures and stories will start tomorrow morning.

Day 1 is over and only 1 word applies....AWESOME...and we have 3 days left!!!!!

We kind of overdid it the first day because of (1) Luncheable for lunch  (2) free beer   (3) Free Frozen margaritas in a bag    (4) great music   (5) Free beer

Todd & Mike (yes, Ana, he really was here)

Lynch Mob  (George Lynch, former guitarist for Dokken).  Ripped it hard!

Skid Row broke everyones neck from banging head so hard!  Absolutely AWESOME!

    They destroyed the place!!!

Scott getting a little light to the wind AND standing by Pillow Man

RATT sounded the same as they did in '88.  Great show.
