Books recommended for reading and Links

Some books recommended for reading and studying.  All can be obtained through Amazon.com, and just enter the ISBN into the search field.  There are also opportunities to obtain these as 'used' for substantially lower prices.  Just make sure you are getting the current edition of the books.

Some recommended websites are listed at the bottom of this page.  These links are intended for basic review of cath lab related issues.

   Titles and descriptions listed in RED are what I consider essential study materials in preparation for the exam.  All the others are nice resources.

ISBN 0-9711137-7-7  Wes Todd CV Review on CD.  The standard for RCIS examination review	Heart Disease 7th edition     Braunwald     0-7216-0479-X.  This book is the standard for cardiovascular reference
The Cardiac Catheterization Handbook         Kern           0323022472  Very good basic book covering almost all aspects of a heart cath.	Grossmans Cardiac Catheterization         Baim, Grossman         068330741X  Another standard for heart catheterization reference.
Drugs for the Heart 6th edition    Opie     0-7216-2839-7  Awesome book to learn everything about cardiovascular medications!!	Rapid Interpretation of EKG’s        Dubin          0-912912-02-2 From beginners or those wishing refreshing...THIS is the book to have
The Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Handbook        Kern        0323022383  The next progression of the book after the basic heart cath.  Covers intervention.	Cardiovascular Physiology Concepts   Klabunde    078175030x  Excellent physiology book.  Since anatomy and physiology is the key block for hemodynamic monitoring and medications, this one should be required reading.  It is fairly extensive, in-depth and scientific.
Textbook of Interventional Cardiology          Topol         0721694497	Invasive Hemodynamics in the Catheterization Laboratory           Kern        901346331  This book is a questions based book.  You should not get it unless you already understand basic hemodynamic monitoring
Hemodynamic Waveform Analysis          Ahrens          0721640095  Great book to take you to the next level.  Helps identify waveforms that you would see in patient care, or in problems with the monitoring of such patients	Hurst’s Heart           Alexander et al         0070010242
Clinical Application of the IABP  0-87993-401-8  Bolooki  Good explanation and clinical applications of IABP management	Nursing Math Simplified        Moore          0943202779  If you have a problem with medication calculations....you want this book.
Davis’s Drug Guide for Nurses           Deglin             0803611528Lippincotts Nursing Drug Guide  ISBN: 1582552975 These are both in the same box because they are essentially equivilant.  A MUST HAVE for anyone dealing with medications	Tabers Medical Dictionary                                 0803606540
